The Gaye family recently announced it would be going after T.I again in the ‘Blurred Lines’ case that already resulted in Pharrell and Robin Thicke having to pay $7.3 million. While the judge in the initial case decided that only Thicke and Skateboard P were responsible for ripping off the classic, ‘Got to Give it Up’, the Gaye estate is having their attorney file another motion against T.I., who contributed the rap portion of ‘Blurred Lines’.
Despite his admiration and respect for “the legacy of Marvin Gaye”, TI told TMZ he isn’t backing down and that the case against him is bunk:
“I know that I’m a writer, I’m a creator — I don’t steal from anybody creatively when I make my music,” he said. “I know that, and I think that anybody with common sense is going to be able to see it whenever they listen to it.”
He added that he “will be exonerated”.
